Sarries spoil Quins xmas party

28th December 2011
On a record breaking day, with a sell out 82,000 crowd at Twickenham, the reigning Aviva Champions relieved the table toppers Harlequins of their unbeaten start to the league season. Pre match entertainment from tribute band Killer Queen, Misha B, Amelia Lily and Camilla Kerslake, were followed with a firework introduction for the hosts. Saracens though quickly took the lead through two Owen Farrell penalty, a lead which was halved by Nick Evans before a Strettle interception and conversion from Farrell put Sarries into a commanding 19-3 lead. A penalty just on the stroke of half time, followed by a Joe Marler try immediately after the break reduced the arrears and produced a rousing attritional second half, but with no further scoring, the guests reduced the hosts lead at the top of the championship and in doing so became the first team to lower the Quins colours this season in the premiership.
